A new stereoscopic video installation by Maximus Clarke, PARTY OF ONE, was featured on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at the “Masked Marvelous” gala in Long Island City, Queens, celebrating Materials For The Arts’ 40th anniversary as a New York City arts institution.
The event raised funds for the nonprofit organization, transforming its warehouse into a space where hundreds of guests enjoyed an evening of local food, craft cocktails, dancing, and art-filled celebration.
“Masked Marvelous” attendees, including actor B.D. Wong, New York City councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, and Center for the Holographic Arts director Martina Mrongovius, donned anaglyph 3D glasses to view PARTY OF ONE, which was projected throughout the night on a large screen.
Materials For The Arts build relationships with the city’s arts, culture and educational communities by teaching the value of creative reuse, supplying an endless variety of donated materials for art-making, and promoting sustainability practice in creativity.
